She wasn’t surprised that the stranger seemed secretive and generally odd - hermits tended to be both.

“You didn’t have to hurt her,” Desmond growled. “We could have done this peacefully.”

The obvious agony of their deaths was one thing; the fact that no one had bothered - or been able - to bury them was another.

“Everyone else looked to the sky. Kady seemed worried. Neto seemed hopeful.”
